The children will be focusing on France and Russia, and we will compare their human and physical features. We will be using atlases and Google Maps to support our learning. We will also look at famous landmarks and the importance of exporting and importing goods. We have lots of exciting activities planned and can’t wait to get started! The children will have weekly guided reading and concentrate on their VIPERS skills. They will learn the strategies and skills and apply these independently through a variety of texts. Stay tuned for updates, announcements, and important information via Facebook, messenger and the Hemington School newsletter. Let’s make this Summer Term a memorable one! Our theme this term is Europe; therefore, all of the activities are related to these topics. The idea behind this homework is that you and your child will have a go at things together and record what you have done in the book provided. You can choose any way that you would like to record your experiences, for example, you can use pictures, photographs, writing, cartoons, or you could stick any souvenirs in your book. You can also choose the order in which you complete the challenges. Please don’t worry if you do not get a chance to complete all of the challenges; they are designed for you to pick and choose which activities you would like to do with your child and that fit around your family life. The most important way you can help your child is to show an interest in what they do at school, ensure they attend regularly, eat a nutritious breakfast and get plenty of sleep. You can really help your child by talking to them about what they have done at school but some children are more forthcoming than others. To help you support your child, our class pages have an overview of what your child will be learning each term as well as ideas to help specific to their class and topics.
Timestables Rockstars – All children in Year 3 and 4 have a TTRS login. We recommend that the children use TTRS for a few minutes each day, as little and often is much more beneficial to the children retaining the knowledge they gain, than once a week.

Homework Challenges — Please use this to access the homework and spellings online. Each child will receive a homework challenge menu. There will be enough tasks to complete at least 1 per week based on our topic. You can choose any way that you would like to record your experiences, for example, you can use pictures, photographs, writing, cartoons or you could stick souvenirs in your book. You can also choose the order in which you complete the challenges. Please don’t worry if you do not get chance to complete all of the challenges, they are designed for you to pick and choose which activities you would like to do with your child and that fit around your family life. Each week we will choose a selection of work to be presented to the class to develop social and communication skills. We do hope that you can complete as many challenges as possible so that your child can share their successes with their peers and school staff.
